Hi everyone, I am trying to use ffmpeg to convert a 3gp file to flv (flash video). I get an error with the audio file because it looks like my compile of ffmpeg cannot recognize mp4a. Is there any way to get ffmpeg to recognize this format? I tried to do a recompile of the latest cvs of ffmpeg but still no luck. Here is the output: -bash-3.00$ ffmpeg -i test.3gp test.flv FFmpeg version CVS, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: --enable-mp3lame --enable-amr_nb libavutil version: 49.0.0 libavcodec version: 51.8.0 libavformat version: 50.4.0 built on Apr 3 2006 04:18:31, gcc: 3.4.5 20051201 (Red Hat 3.4.5-2) Seems that stream 0 comes from film source: 1000.00 (1000/1) -> 15.00 (15/1) Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'test.3gp': Duration: 00:00:30.5, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 139 kb/s Stream #0.0(eng), 15.00 fps(r): Video: mpeg4, yuv420p, 176x144 Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: mp4a / 0x6134706D, 16000 Hz, stereo Output #0, flv, to 'test.flv': Stream #0.0, 15.00 fps(c): Video: flv, yuv420p, 176x144, q=2-31, 200 kb/s Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 16000 Hz, stereo, 64 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #0.0 -> #0.0 Stream #0.1 -> #0.1 Unsupported codec (id=86018) for input stream #0.1 -bash-3.00$ Thanks. Yes.

Configure with --enable-faad. To answer your inevitable follow-on question: Install libfaad. -- -Mike Melanson

If I well understood... you well talk about m4a (mp4a?) an audio codec named "aac" too ffmpeg can encode to m4a but ffmpeg does not decode aac naturally to decode a m4a, you must first compile the lib "faad" and after include it in ffmpeg ("./configure --enable-faad" ) bye Herv?
