Trying to get started dumping a movie.
Hi all, I'm trying what I thought would be a pretty simple process. Dump the Frame Buffer into a MPEG movie. Seems like img_convert is perfect, I just need to convert RGB24 into whatever the PIX_FMT the AVCodecContext wanted. Seemed simple. There was even a little example output_example to show me how do things. Problem is, I've copied the output_example code into my app, and I get segfaults because I end trying to dereference a NULL pointer. So I figured I forgot to do something, and I would trace output_example very carefully to see where I went wrong. Errr.... No. output_example doesn't seem to work. /home/ramey/ffmpeg>output_example test.mpg Output #0, mpeg, to 'test.mpg': Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg1video (hq), 352x288, 25.00 fps, q=2-31, 400 kb/s Stream #0.1: Audio: mp2, 44100 Hz, stereo, 64 kb/s [mpeg1video @ 0x403459d8]only YUV420 is supported could not open codec /home/ramey/ffmpeg>output_example test.yuv Output #0, rawvideo, to 'test.yuv': Stream #0.0: Video: rawvideo, 352x288, 25.00 fps, q=2-31, 400 kb/s Could not allocate picture /home/ramey/ffmpeg>output_example test.asf Output #0, asf, to 'test.asf': Stream #0.0: Video: msmpeg4, 352x288, 25.00 fps, q=2-31, 400 kb/s Stream #0.1: Audio: mp2, 44100 Hz, stereo, 64 kb/s [msmpeg4 @ 0x403459d8]only YUV420 is supported could not open codec Here is ffmpeg's little print thing telling you how I built it: ffmpeg ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4756, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard configuration: --enable-shared --disable-strip --prefix=/home/ramey/ffmpeg/install/ --libdir=/home/ramey/ffmpeg/lib/ built on Jun 8 2005 13:18:24, gcc: 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5) I would be happy to recieve a RTFM answer if someone would point me to a manual that was readable. The example by Martin Bohme was not real helpful as I want to WRITE a video file, not read one. Thanks in advance, Larry
