Since in our project (Lulop2) SVCD is far too low quality, could it be possible to add a preset for very high quality material? I?m looking for something with DVD quality MPEG, but not AC3-audio. Audio should be high quality too, but preferably MPEG since it shouldn?t be necessary for users to install additional codecs. I already took a quick look on the source and noticed, that it shouldn?t be very hard to implement... Many thanks _________________________________________________________________ Don't just search. You're either making a SVCD compliant stream, with the limited quality implied by that, or you're not making a SVCD compliant stream, simple as that. If you're not going to make SVCD's at all, why not use the DVD preset?

Because of the audio format, AC-3. It should be MPEG so that recipients do not have to install any additional codecs. What I?m looking for is quality preset for TV-broadcast. DVD-presets videoquality would do, but audioformat doesn?t... _________________________________________________________________ Don't just search. Find. OK, thanks... this sentence "Nevertheless you can specify additional options as long as you know they do not compromise the standard" just made me doubt the codec options...

I?m just a couple of weeks old ffmpeg user and wouldn?t know better=) I thought that all the information about outputfiles like sizes etc. were like "hardcoded" so that it would have resulted some sort of error if I had tried to change anything. I actually did try, and it resulted an error but I am quite sure it was because of syntax error. But now I added -acodec to my command and it works like a dream...resulting mp2 audio. _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! My Q. was not 'what doubt did you have' but rather 'Why did the sentence "Nevertheless... " cause you to have doubts?'. -- Michel Bardiaux Peaktime Belgium S.A. Bd. du Souverain, 191 B-1160 Bruxelles Tel : +32 2 790.29.41
Well, actually it was "as long as you know...." which somehow made me think I should only alter things like duration or such, ?cause I just glanced it trough quite quickly. And the error because of my syntax (which I did not know at that time) only strenghtened my impression of that.

Hmmm, I assumed common sense here, but of course... ;-)
