optimal encoding parameters for MPEG-2?
Hi I want to compare the video quality of several software MPEG encoders. Each of the encoders receives the same stream (a decoded MPEG stream at 8Mb/s) and creates an output file. The encoding is done in offline. Output should be CBR, 3Mbs, interlaced NTSC (both input and output). In essence, the ffmpeg should work as transrater - keeping the same resolution and format. I was looking at the command line options, but the documentation is not so easy to understand. Is there a recommended set of options/flags for highest video quality (at the price of higher cpu usage)? Can you recommend (or say which options should not be used?) PS: Is there a search engine for the mailing list? I tried googling it with "site:" but the results were disappointing. Thanks Noam.
