Hi, I'm using Tiger 10.4.6 with XCode 2.3 on PPC. I have the latest svn version of ffmpeg. I have fink, which I used to install xvid, faac, ... I compiled x264 from cvs. I can't compile ffmpeg, even wihout --enable-x264 and --enable-xvid... It stops while compiling faad.h or something. I tried to enable the options I want (faac, x264, xvid) by modifying the .info file from fink and trying to install ffmpeg with fink (that usualy works), but it crash. Any solution ? Thx, Alexis

I use cvs (svn now) of ffmpeg and I build myself the libs (with tarballs) then I don't know well fink... but: faad cannot be build wih gcc > 4.0 on ppc (and the one with current MacOS is 4.01, it's written in the "verbose" during the compile of faad :-( then I cannot build it too (then it's not possible to incorporate it to ffmpeg) and I don't know how to build it with older gcc my libraries for xvid and x264 were build with gcc 4.0 they can be incorporate in ffmpeg I don't know if they can compile with 4.01 (I didn't try) maybe you can try with a "ranlib" ranlib /usr/local/lib/libfaad.a (or something like that I don't know the real path)
Thx, Alexis

Hi,

not a crash, no? seems to be just an error during compile...
OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_GNU_SOURCE -c -o ffmpeg.o ffmpeg.c cc -O3 -g -Wall -Wno-switch -no-cpp-precomp -pipe -fomit-frame- pointer -force_cpusubtype_ALL -Wno-sign-compare -faltivec -mdynamic- no-pic -I. -I/Users/musyne/ffmpeg -I/Users/musyne/ffmpeg/libavutil - I/Users/musyne/ffmpeg/libavcodec -I/Users/musyne/ffmpeg/libavformat -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_GNU_SOURCE -c -o cmdutils.o cmdutils.c cc -Wl,-dynamic,-search_paths_first -g -o ffmpeg_g ffmpeg.o cmdutils.o -L./libavformat -lavformat -L./libavcodec -lavcodec -L./ libavutil -lavutil -lz /usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols: _aac_decoder _ac3_decoder _faac_encoder _mp3lame_encoder _mpeg4aac_decoder _x264_encoder _xvid_encoder _ff_xvid_rate_control_init _ff_xvid_rate_control_uninit _ff_xvid_rate_estimate_qscale collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [ffmpeg_g] Error 1
I did a simple configure whitout options.
not really: 1st you must clean your old build (you still have traces of it) cd [path to ffmpeg folder] make clean make distclean ./configure make (and sudo make install if you go to the end)
What to do ? I got gcc 4.0.1.
me to, never mind ;-)
Cheers, Alexis
