I am using:
ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4718, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard built on Sep 29 2006 08:44:55, gcc: 3.4.2 [FreeBSD] 20040728
You might want to use somnething a little less prehistoric. That version is a couple of years old.

I would like to convert all .WMV to .AVI (or to .mpg).
What is the correct command to do that?
Depends on the audio and video codecs you want to use to encode the data you're going to multiplex into the AVI or MPG container, and on the sound and picture quality you're aiming for (bitrates etc.).
I need to ask to my server-guy to update/install (in FreeBSD) the last version. Where can I find it? I dont see it in that link. Where can I see the last version.

Read the page: "Never ask for help or report bugs if you are using a formal release instead of SVN.". You have to install from source. <quote> FFmpeg SVN Note that the FFmpeg SVN repository is hosted by the MPlayer project, rather than by Sourceforge, for... historical reasons. In order to use the standard SVN client to check out the source code: svn checkout svn://svn.mplayerhq.hu/ffmpeg/trunk ffmpeg </quote> -- G. Stewart - godwin.stewart at gmail.com Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
