Making windows streams with ffmpeg
Hello, I'm using ffmpeg-cvs (week or two old) and I'm having trouble with some windows streams. I'm using the videocodec wva2, and I can stream fine via apache (although inefficiently I'm told). However when I try the same video over a windows streaming server I get an "out of memory" error when the server starts to stream. Videos encoded through Adobe Premiere with windows media 8 codec are fine. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm already using ffmpeg successfully to encode mpegs from dv avi's, and some windows-friendly (ie. useable by the vast majority without having to download a codec) version of that dv avi would be brilliant. Otherwise, what free streaming server software would you recommend for linux? I've been told apache is not the way to go as it's not designed for efficient streaming. Regards, Amadeus

I'd encountered the same problem, while encoding with VBR. For me works only CBR & VMV2

You can try Helix or Darvin Streaming Servers. For me works fine VLC (Video Lan Client - videolan.org ) -- Viktor Kompaneyets Wnet project manager

Could you give me a command line example of a successful encode with CBR & VMV2? Many thanks, Amadeus

Sorry - but it was a lot days ago... Currently I'm using VLC and'm near happy! -- Viktor Kompaneyets Wnet project manager
