why ffmpeg doesn't create file with correct bitrate?
I have the same problem, but the first thing you can do is lower the frame rate to 10 or 8. and try -bt 1. this makes bitrates lower for me but I still try to find some way to limit it. I need to create 3gp file with bitrate of 60 kbps. But despite of fact that I pass "-b 30" option to ffmpeg, file with higher bitrate is created (it can be seen from ffmpeg output). So maybe someone can give me a hint, how can I create 3gp file with bitrate which I need? There is ffmpeg command and output : # ffmpeg -y -i test.avi -s qcif -b 30 -r 12 test.3gp ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4718, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard built on Apr 1 2005 16:05:29, gcc: 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-8) Input #0, avi, from 'test.avi': Duration: 00:00:06.2, bitrate: 3031 kb/s Stream #0.0: Video: msmpeg4, 424x424, 24.00 fps Output #0, 3gp, to 'test.3gp': Stream #0.0: Video: h263, 176x144, 12.00 fps, q=2-31, 30 kb/s Stream mapping: Stream #0.0 -> #0.0 [h263 @ 0xb7f21168]removing common factors from framerate Press [q] to stop encoding frame= 77 q=31.0 Lsize= 91kB time=6.4 bitrate= 116.2kbits/s video:90kB audio:0kB global headers:0kB muxing overhead 1.422043%
