Stopping fffmeg after generating 10 png images from a video file
I want to get 10 snapshots (in .png format) of a video starting at 15 seconds with each snapshot spaced apart by 5 seconds. Is there a simple way to accomplish this using ffmpeg ? I know that there is a way to take a single snapshot and hence I can accomplish this by calling ffmpeg multiple times. (e.g. ffmpeg -i http://mywebserver.com/test.mpg -ss 15 -an -f image2 test.png ) But, I do not want to call ffmpeg multiple times because the video is located on a http server and I want to make only a single connection per video. The video is long and hence downloading the whole video locally is not feasible. Thanks, George

Check -vframes, also learn the syntax for multiple output image files, for example: img-%03d.png means: "wrote the images in files named img-XXX.png where XXX is a three-digits number starting from 001". Also -r is relevant, where the framerate in this case is given by: framerate = N / period = 1 / 5 . Regards. -- ffmpeg-user random tip #20 Draw a text into a video: ffmpeg -i silence.mpeg -vhook '/home/stefano/lib/vhook/drawtext.so \ -f /usr/share/fonts/truetype/verdanab.ttf -t hello_world_this_is_very_cool\ -c #ffffff -C #0000ff -b ' -y text.mpeg
