Decoder - Encoder - Video - Subtitles. Can't remember what the second 'D' stands for, though. You'll also see 'A' before the 'V', meaning 'Audio'. -- G. Stewart - gstewart at lamproie.eu

Hello,

From cmdutils.c:show_formats:
printf( " %s%s%s%s%s%s %-15s %s", decode ? "D": (/*p2->decoder ? "d":*/" "), encode ? "E":" ", type_str, cap & CODEC_CAP_DRAW_HORIZ_BAND ? "S":" ", cap & CODEC_CAP_DR1 ? "D":" ", cap & CODEC_CAP_TRUNCATED ? "T":" ", p2->name, p2->long_name ? p2->long_name : ""); so the first char tells if there is a Decoder with that name, the second char tells if there is an Encoder with that name, follows type string which is the type of codec (Audio, Video, Subtitle or ?), the other three chars (SDT) specify codec capabilities. What are the capabilities ? S = ? D = ? T = ? or is there a web site I can lear it ? Thx a lot. Best Regards. _________________________________________________________________ Retouchez, classez et partagez vos photos gratuitement avec le logiciel Galerie de Photos ! http://www.windowslive.fr/galerie/

Mmh... read and understand the code (avcodec.h), or ask for help on libav-user. Furthermore they aren't the only supported capabilities, I have no idea why they choose to expose those rather than other ones, anyway I think for most users is safe to ignore that information.
