Waaaaaay ahead of you. Check any FATE test spec, e.g.:

And you will notice a little field named "timeout". Unfortunately, the 
regression suite necessarily requires an extraordinarily long timeout -- 
I have it set to 1 hour.

So FATE continued to work; it was just taking forever to get past that 
one revision. It's another reason I long to break down the regression 
suite into smaller tests.
