Nice, I really hope you apply. It might help tune you gsoc related
perspective and get a better idea of what goes on when writing
functionality related peer reviewed patches (i'm not saying that you
haven't done so already).

Also, IIRC you always keep bringing up the topic of code in the soc
repo which hasn't been finished/committed yet. My humble suggestion
would be one of those, like : native dirac code, jpeg2k, dts encoder
etc.
