I don't plan other changes to the API, all those done are more or less
the ones that I planned when I started the "cleanup" job. Next ones
(after publication) will keep backward compatibility.

If you have comments on it, say them now, Michael already approved the
publication so if there are no further comments I want to make it
public soon.
