you are correct, people really just talk about
"users" or "average users" to generate arguments for their position out
of thin air.

release notes are not uncommon, it makes sense to have them and it
makes sense to have them at the download page.
users cant know what is missing in a release or what is missing in
svn trunk. Knowledge of how to compile an application does not implicate
knowledge of the differences of available branches

i praised reinhards work at least once, what he did with the releases
was much more than anyone had done before in ffmpeg.
But 0.5 is a dead end and 0.6 is close to a dead end.
Its time to cut 0.7.
Continuing work on 0.5 is just for releases who still ship that old
version ...
