OK, I did another hack,
I edited zlib="no" to "yes" in the line below , as shown below:
$cc $CFLAGS $LDFLAGS -o $TMPE $TMPC -lz 2> /dev/null || zlib="yes"

Compile and install ok.

Now need to test ffmpeg for its zlib capabilities. Need some idea here. :)
