With properly optimized code, the G5 is much faster than anything x86.
I can't believe your claim about the cpu usage by liba52.  DVDs are
just about watchable on my 533MHz Alpha PCA56, which doesn't even have
proper SIMD instructions, and definitely no specific optimizations in
liba52.
