[Ffmpeg-devel] Any dct clipping side effects, or it's safe?

Hi.

While encoding via libavcodec to wmv, I'm frequently receiving the following
warning:

[wmv2 @ 0x80c988]warning, clipping 1 dct coefficients to -255..255

After checking both the code, and the SVN commit log, I found a note that it
happens because MS format does not support the full DCT range, hence the
clipping happens and the following warning.


What I want to know, is if this clipping causes some problems in the encoded
files, or it's safe to ignore?
