Yes, I'm quite aware of it. However, if you perform those same tests,
but for each test hold the _type_ of distortion fixed and just vary
the amount of it, PSNR will correlate rather well with the visual
quality. Where PSNR particularly sucks is for comparing different
types of distortion.
