As far as that previous bug goes, I accidentally posted an old patch.
I'm sorry and I do understand that reviewing patches is very time
consuming.

I've split the patch into pieces (at least 5), the first of which
contains no asm. Would you mind forgiving me and having a look at the
first piece, which sets up a snow.h and makes snow use the dsputil
function pointer framework to access the three functions that are
implemented in asm in the other parts of the patch.
