So it is gnu fault accepting a patch maintained outside their scope for 
years before it got included since were already used by lot of people 
and there were requests about it.

I call it react to the input from the community, not embrace&extend.

Add that not exactly main branches of those tools, maintained by other 
people and with little relation to the mainline (see my rants about 
gcc-apple), have the same features adapted for their completely alien 
binary format.
