There is no guarantee that it will remain LGPL for all eternity and that
you will continue to be able to use for free without trouble.  But you
will always be able to fork from the last LGPL snapshot and continue
using it as LGPL for as long as you wish.

If you (and/or your employer) care about LGPL so much, why don't you
implement the missing pieces in swscale yourself or sponsor somebody to
do it?  Is that more expensive than using proprietary codecs?
