Indeed, I didn't take that into account. So if I fix that 25% and the clamping 
part, will you accept the patch?

It's the new CPU from Sun with (up to?) 8 cores. It is aimed at servers, not 
at multimedia playback - but as a matter of fact nothing of the whole SPARC 
line is aimed at multimedia playback.

[...snipped interesting part about a theoretical problem, that noone will ever 
solve in practice because it's too complicated and ugly - but you are right 
the additional 8 instructions are not needed]
