The program md5sum doesn't ship with OS X - I just did a 'which  
md5sum' and it came up dry. I know one can install it from dports or  
fink, but in general most OS X users use is 'openssl md5 <file>'  
instead. You probably have md5sum installed from some 3rd party system.
