a few hundread commits are no problem (unless something goes wrong and the
repo is trashed afterwards ...) (so this needs checking on a dummy repo
if its done with a script instead of by hand)

i always like to preserve history if its easy possible, OTOH its not
my intention to cause several days work for justin, so the
history/no history question depends on how easy it would be to keep it

also just to make it clear iam speaking of history in ffmpeg svn not
soc svn, i dont care too much what happens with ac3 in soc svn
so ideally that would first checkin the history from ac3-soc into
ffmpeg-svn and then the following history from justins changes

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give
it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For
even the very wise cannot see all ends. -- Gandalf
