Looks like the latest stable release is over five years old and the latest 
alpha almost three. Plus, it's more than just snow. I think some sort of 
wrapper around snow*.[ch], an easy installer and the ability to just play 
snow-in-avi with WMP after that, or transcode with virtualdub, is what's 
needed to have the possibility of gaining any populairity instead of being 
an interesting niche codec.
