Did you try to do it without all the switching machinery and it didn't
work? Can you provide sample file(s)?

Keep in mind that some encoders generate varying CodecPrivates even
when using the same encoding settings (I think Vorbis did this). If
I'm not mistaken, checking for matching CodecPrivate would break all
files with Vorbis audio.
