Aside: for quilt users I highly recommend looking at mercurial's "mq"
extension (it comes bundled with mercurial but you may have to
manually enable it).  It basically works exactly like quilt, even
using a series file and patches directory which you can hand-edit if
desired.  Advantages include: better support for add/rename/delete and
no more dealing with 000-permission marker files; It automatically
tracks edited files, so you don't have to remember to manually add
them to the patch before touching them; and Mercurial sees pushed
patches as temporary commits, which you can view in the logs, get
diffs and file annotations, etc.
