Qualification :
  - convert from intrisics to asm or from asm to intrinsics 4-5 
nontrivial functions.
  - benchmark the results.

SoC :
  - split x86 from x86_64, rewrite for speed for x86_64, asm AND 
intrinsics, benchmark the results.
  - improve the simd coverage for $arch

Mentor for ppc -> me
Mentor for x86 -> ???
Mentor for arm ?

That if you deem it worth a SoC and a qualification task.
