When swscale was added i hoped that we very soon would
drop the old scaler and API but due to various reasons this didnt happen
yet. When the code was written it was not expected that there would be
a long period with both supported.
I regret a little that i did not simply ignore the whining users and
removed the old scaler, this would have helped speed up things alot.
Now we have a google SOC task about the swscaler and iam planning to
wait to see what comes out of that before i spend time on it ...

About the patch, i understand that distros want it and thats fine, i
just do not want that patch in svn, i rather spend my time moving forward
than reviewing, adding and maintaining hacks to support
"obscure local minima".
