Regarding this, I have this wrapper code in my tree now, and I'll post
it in a separate thread after some
testing. R3d files are huge so it takes time to download :-)

As a side note, I remember Baptiste mentioning that decoding with the
external library is quite slow so we will
still most definitely need the native decoder.
