I'm gonna cut the OP some slack and save others the bother. Outlook, and
Outlook Express, by default, assume all replies are top-posting. Read up
on it with your favourite search engine. We (that is, ffmpeg) don't like
it. Ever. Ever ever.

will give you a lot of information on configuring Outlook properly.

I use Thunderbird (Portable), and have it set to never ever top-post.
The preferred style you see on the ffmpeg mailing lists is "inline
quoting", where the responses are done on a line by line or paragraph by
paragraph.
