That is exactly my point:
Of course this customer has to do something, but he will (probably) not
re-distribute libx264 with a header - so for the ordinary user, this option is
never necessary.

Since this one (or in future, this dozen) user gets your support anyway, he
should be able to patch his configure script accordingly.
