I am sorry I must say I have doubts about the feature, especially since it
requires some amount of code in various places of the framework. Do you have
more interesting use cases than the ones in the examples?

I have had for some time the project of an "edl" filter that would connect
its various inputs and outputs according to a pre-established script, it
seems it would enable more or less the same effects without touching the
framework.
