I forgot that I did this design switch and never sent that new one. The
main point was to focus the patchset on the normalization instead of the
metadata, which could have been exported later.

But you are right, since the way the normalization is done might not be
optimal at all, I'll re-send a patchset later, focused on metadata only.
And I'll move to the normalization in a later step.
