Sorry, that had a few typos and maybe was badly worded too.

I'm just saying that bad interoperability is bad for both Libav and
FFmpeg, because it increases the chance that a developer will stick
to either library. And the point is: while you're trying to make
developers stick to FFmpeg by force, you may just achieve the opposite
of what you wanted.

I'm pretty sure someone who wrote code with libavresample won't just
rewrite his code for libswresample just to make it work with FFmpeg. In
fact, he would be stupid to do so, because it wouldn't work on
Debian/Ubuntu anymore.

I guess in the minds of FFmpeg devs it's best if developers write code
against both libraries, either by duplicating it, or by introducing
awkward compatibility hacks?

It's a joke, it's all a joke...
