The scenarios that would this attempt to handle better:
1) someone is recording from their webcam, wants to see the output as it
is (simultaneously) recorded.
2) same thing, but they want to stream it, while it is being recorded, or
the like.
Basically this is a feature request to make ffplay/ffserver into "movie
sink's" which I think would handle this.
I'm mostly basing this from VLC, which can split and stream or convert or
display (and since ffmpeg can split now, it might be nice to do the other
things too):

Making ffserver programmable via command-line (as VLC's is) would be
convenient, at times, too.
