 I did another experiment.
 I converted from wav to m4a using faac-1.28.
 faac -o faac.m4a foo.wav
 This file plays OK.
 I've attached the file.

 m4a files created by FFmpeg ffmpeg version git-2015-11-13-6f520ce don't
 play.
