Comment (by mkver):

 I don't think that the version number has anything to do with it (It does
 not affect seeking or demuxing. It is just used for an initial check
 whether the file requires a version ffmpeg doesn't support. The version
 number is not even kept after parsing the header.); but the remuxing
 definitely might have.
