Comment:

 The solution I found for getting a constant frame rate was to push the
 video through virtualdub2, selecting x264 10 bit, 4:2:0 and CRF 1.
 This gives lossless conversion according to

 https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/H.264
