 Thanks for the pointer to the other issue, but this is missing the
 alternative suggestion to show a warning to the user.

 Basically: if a protocol error is raised, it could show: `"Did you mean to
 use file:$filename" instead?"`, where `$filename` is whatever the user
 specified originally.
