That is why from a legal perspective (which seems to be what you are 
interested in) it does not matter what someone *says*. For it to be 
legally binding, you would have to prove that you concluded an oral 
contract (or via e-mail). Good luck with that. Why would you want to do 
that? It's just calling for trouble. There already *is* a written 
contract (the licence). This is the set of rules which are legally binding.

This is the legal side of the issue. Concerning the moral/ethical side 
there have been lots of replies already.
