How about using pipes to run the data through FFMpeg. WGet to STDOUT,
pipe that into FFMpeg with FFMpeg's STDOUT then serving to the client?
So, something like:
wget -q0- http://youtube.address/goes/here | ffmpeg -i -- <parameters
go here> --
