I think the OP's point was that if he is doing 2-pass x264 encoding,
on the first pass he doesn't want to do anything with the audio, just
discard it, and re-encode it/copy it on the second pass, but when he
tries this he ends up with no audio in the second pass.

Of course, he neglected to show command lines or output for either of
the passes, so that is utter speculation.
