Could you test a release?
(You can find them on http://ffmpeg.org/download.html )
They are not recommended for end users, but since I can't test 
on OSX 10.8 and this seems to be a very serious issue, testing 
a release might help finding the issue.
(You can remove --enable-version3 from your configure line, 
it has no effect.)
