I don't intend to respond pointwise Stefano's objections to my criticism of ffmpeg's documentation as it would clog the list with largely pointless back-and-forth which is unlikely to have a useful result. I am aware that user opinion of ffmpeg and its documentation is not valued and I'm not going to waste my time; my initial objections stand.
