[FFmpeg-user] FFProbe: Bitrate not given in output when running on Ubuntu

I have been racking my brain and cannot see the reason for this issue.

I have a installation of ffprobe on my windows and ubuntu machines. On
windows, I get a bitrate output for all video/audio files, but on my ubuntu
I do not (I get bitrate: N/A).

Does anyone know if ffmpeg uses external libraries only available on
windows, as this is the only reason I can think of.
