[FFmpeg-user] ffplay can not play a mp4 video

Hello, I am a new user of ffmpeg.
I am running the ffmpeg of version N-37000-g8cd7aab under ubuntu 12.10. 
I found that ffplay can not support some of the mp4 videos. These are
surveillance videos. It shows that "Invalid data found when processing
input".
Could you help me to find out ways to decode them? Thank you very much!
