I am observing the same with recent revisions of ffmpeg on Mac OS X.

CC libswscale/utils.o
YASM libswscale/x86/input.o
STRIP libswscale/x86/input.o
strip: unrecognized option: -wN
Usage: strip [-AnuSXx] [-] [-d filename] [-s filename] [-R filename]
[-o output] file [...]
make: [libswscale/x86/input.o] Error 1 (ignored)
...

I have never noticed this before.
