[FFmpeg-user] Capturing and time / timecode

Capturing from a BM source to files intended for further processing, and i 
would like to be able to sync them to a common timesource,
so adding timecode to the files.
But i have no clue how to find out when exactly the capture process starts / 
how long frames are in 'any' buffer/pipeline.

Is there a trick to get this information, or force FFmpeg to start at an 
known time?
