There is the FATE testing system which we use for testing assorted
components of FFmpeg.  You can read about it here:
http://ffmpeg.org/fate.html

What exactly are you looking to test?  On sox-users you said you wanted
to test its filters on various inputs and you were told that sox
converts to in internal format.  ffmpeg (the tool) also automatically
converts formats between filters if neither share a common format.
